About the Federation

The Mauritius Cricket Federation (MCF) is the governing body for cricket in Mauritius. We work with clubs, schools, partners, and communities to grow the sport with integrity, professionalism, and national pride.

Our role covers the full cricket pathway - from first-time players and school programs to organized competitions and national team development. We support coaches and officials, encourage participation across regions, and help create more structured opportunities for talented players to progress.

How we operate

Why Cricket Matters in Mauritius

Building stronger communities through sport, discipline, and opportunity

A sport that supports development, inclusion, and community engagement across Mauritius.

Across the island, cricket brings people together through school programmes, community sessions, club competitions, and development activities that encourage teamwork and fair play. It helps young Mauritians build confidence, discipline, and leadership while staying active in a positive environment.

Through the Federation’s pathway-from first contact with the game to structured coaching and competitive opportunities-players and volunteers can grow, connect, and represent their communities with pride.

Cricket plays an important role in Mauritian society by bringing together people from different backgrounds, cultures, and regions through a shared passion for sport.

Beyond competition, cricket helps develop discipline, teamwork, leadership, and respect-values that support young people at school, at home, and in their communities.

The Mauritius Cricket Federation works to expand access across the island, create safe and structured opportunities for youth, support women’s participation, and strengthen community engagement through well-organised programmes and events.

CRICKET IN MAURITIUS THROUGH THE YEARS

A Journey of Growth, Unity and National Development

Cricket has been part of Mauritius for many decades, evolving from a recreational pastime into a sport that unites communities across the island. Through the dedication of players, clubs, volunteers, and administrators, cricket continues to grow and create opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Introduction of Cricket in Mauritius
Cricket was introduced through historical ties with cricket-playing nations and gradually became popular among local communities - creating a platform for recreation, teamwork, and friendly competition across the island.

Formation of Local Clubs
As interest increased, clubs were formed across different regions of Mauritius. These clubs became the foundation of organised cricket - developing players, coaches, officials and stronger community participation.

Creation of the Mauritius Cricket Federation
The Mauritius Cricket Federation (MCF) was established to oversee and promote cricket nationwide, providing governance, development pathways, competitions and strategic initiatives aimed at growing the sport at all levels.

International Participation
Mauritian cricket expanded beyond local competitions to regional and international events - allowing players to represent Mauritius abroad, gain valuable experience and raise the country’s profile within the cricket community.

Growth of Women’s Cricket
The Federation has encouraged greater participation among women and girls through dedicated programmes, competitions and development initiatives - strengthening women’s cricket and expanding opportunities nationwide.

Modern Development Programmes
Today, MCF focuses on youth development, school programmes, coaching education, community engagement, talent identification and competitive pathways - making cricket more accessible while building future generations of Mauritian cricketers.

Looking Ahead - As cricket continues to grow, the Mauritius Cricket Federation remains committed to promoting excellence, inclusion, sportsmanship, and national pride through partnerships, community programmes, and player development.
